The company sold 30.3 million shares of common stock priced at $16.50 per share, the middle of the deal’s expected price range. Founded in 1994, by 2002 GT had grown to 85 employees and was doing $22 million in sales. The company’s revenues rose to more than $58 million in fiscal 2006. In 2006, two investor groups -- GFI Energy Ventures and the Angeleno Group -- acquired a majority interest in the company. Funding is expected to start in October and will be used for the next stage of development by the New Zealand Lignocellulosic Bioethanol Initiative, a trans-Pacific research collaboration. The investment was led by Devon Park Bioventures, and included participation by Connecticut Innovations. The additional funds will be used primarily for further clinical development of both intravenous and oral formulations of Cara's product candidate for reducing pain of inflammatory, neuropathic and visceral origin. The purchase price totaled $20 million, including $12.5 million of cash and 4.6 million shares of Dynasil common stock. Included in the deal were certain assets of RMD Instruments. “Adding RMD is a transformational event for Dynasil,” said James Saltzman, chairman of Dynasil, in an announcement about the deal. “We expect that it will more than triple our revenues and profits while our shares outstanding only approximately double.” http://www.rmdmedical.com/hq.html _____________________________________________ o Digital TV Sales to Drive Consumer Electronics Revenue Growth Arlington, Va. - U.S. consumer electronics revenue is expected to reach $173 billion this year, $2 billion more than previous forecasts, according to new data from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The organization credits the increase in digital display sales, which are expected to climb 24% this year leading into February's transition to digital TV signals. "With prices continuing to drop, consumers are deciding the time is right to upgrade to digital," said Steve Koenig, the CEA's director of industry analysis. "By the end of the year, more than 60 percent of U.S. households will have at least one digital television."
