o Chelmsford-based Airvana to be Acquired for $530 Million
Chelmsford, Mass. -- Airvana, a Chelmsford-based provider of mobile broadband network infrastructure products, has entered into to be acquired by a group of private equity firms for about $530 million. Under the agreement, the deal is priced at $7.65 per share of Airvana. The transaction would take the publicly traded company private. Airvana helps operators offer broadband services to mobile subscribers. Its products are deployed in over 70 commercial networks on six continents, according to the company.

o Cambridge-based Javelin Pharmaceuticals to be Acquired by Myriad
Cambridge, Mass. – Javelin Pharmaceuticals, a Cambridge-based developer of pain management drugs, has agreed to be acquired by Myriad Pharmaceuticals in an all-stock deal. Under the agreement, Myriad will acquire Javelin and Javelin stockholders will own approximately 41% of the combined company. "This agreement creates a fully integrated biotechnology company with a submitted NDA for approval of a specialty care product, Dyloject, backed by significant financial resources, a broad pipeline for growth, and a seasoned management team for future commercialization efforts." said Martin Driscoll, CEI of Javelin Pharmaceuticals.

o Acton-based Lumigent Technologies Raises $3 Million in Venture Capital
Acton, Mass. – Lumigent Technologies, an Acton-based developer of risk and compliance monitoring software for corporate operations, has raised $3 million in venture capital, according to a new filing by the company with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Founded in 1999, Lumigent provides software that monitors operational efficiencies and mitigates business and financial risk by continuously monitoring application source data and controls. Investors in the company include Greylock Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners, and Solstice Capital.

o Newton-based Questex Completes Financial Restructuring
Newton, Mass. -- Questex Media Group, a Newton-based, business-to-business media company, announced on Friday that it has completed the “363 sale” of its businesses to a new company held by a group of their senior lenders. The restructured company has its own financing and is not subject to Chapter 11 cases filed by its predecessor companies. “We are thrilled to complete the financial restructuring and provide a new future for our businesses,” said Questex Media Group’s CEO, Kerry Gumas, in an announcement.

o New Haven-based Vion Pharmaceuticals Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
New Haven, Conn. – Vion Pharmaceuticals, a New Haven-based pharmaceutical company focused on the development of cancer treatments, announced that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The bankruptcy filing became necessary as a result of the company's need to conduct an additional randomized trial of its lead anticancer compound, according to the announcement. "We believe that the Chapter 11 process will allow us to maximize the value of the company's assets and, if necessary, to conduct an orderly winding up or liquidation of the company," said Alan Kessman, CEO of Vion.
